About Us

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”

Matthew 28:19-20

San Fernando Valley Academy (SFVA) began in 1902. SFVA is proud to hold the distinction of being the oldest and private school in the San Fernando Valley. Having been a technical school when it opened, and then becoming an elementary school in 1923, SFVA graduated its first high school class in 1961. The school has continued as both an elementary and high school ever since.

SFVA is part of the Seventh-day Adventist educational system. Our mission is two-fold: Be a Seventh-day Adventist Christian light to our community and prepare students for higher education and ultimately life as a productive citizen. SFVA believes that formal education does not stop at the high school level, but, rather, high school is a stepping stone for higher education. As a college preparatory school, SFVA has prepared hundreds of students in such fields as medicine, education, business, engineering and law.

Our Mission Statement

San Fernando Valley Academy is a Seventh-day Adventist college preparatory institution of primary and secondary education whose Christian principles and values are taught to Enhance and Enrich students, providing them with a solid academic foundation and a heart for missionary service with God's love at the center.

Our goal is to educate students to be productive citizens in their communities and to actively spread the gospel to the world through these four foundations: Spirituality, Family, Values, and Academics (SFVA)

Statement of Purpose

To be the local Christian answer to the worldwide search for knowledge. We help our students to be a part of a worldwide mission without leaving home. We encourage our students to live Christ's love in their daily classes and help others find their way to God.

Student Learner Outcomes

At our school, our Student Learner Outcomes focus on developing the whole child in four key areas: Spirituality, Family, Values, and Academics. Spiritually, students are encouraged to grow in their personal relationship with God, practicing faith in daily life and service to others. In the area of Family, students learn to build strong, respectful, and supportive relationships, recognizing the importance of community and teamwork. Through Values, they develop integrity, responsibility, and compassion, applying Christ-centered principles in their choices and actions. Academically, students are challenged to achieve excellence, think critically, and use their knowledge and skills to make a positive difference in the world. Together, these outcomes prepare our students to live with purpose, character, and lifelong learning.
