STEM is a valuable enhancement to the science program at SFVA, but it is not the whole picture. Science instruction is thoughtfully woven throughout every grade level, beginning in elementary school and growing in depth and complexity as students mature. In the elementary years, students are naturally curious—and we nurture that curiosity through hands-on exploration, observation, and guided discovery. Young learners ask questions, make predictions, conduct simple experiments, and begin building a love for how God’s world works.

As students progress into middle and high school, this strong foundation expands into more advanced scientific study. Many SFVA graduates go on to pursue careers in the medical and scientific fields, and the comprehensive science background they receive here provides a solid and lasting foundation for their future success.

In biology, hands-on laboratories and dissections bring the science of life into clear focus. Chemistry labs come alive as theoretical formulas are put into practice through experimentation. In physics, the mysteries of motion, energy, and forces are explored, tested, and explained.

To further enhance learning beyond the classroom, students participate in science-focused field trips that make concepts tangible and memorable. Experiences at locations such as AstroCamp, Pali Institute, El Capitan Canyon, and the Aquarium of the Pacific allow students to apply classroom learning in real-world settings, deepen their understanding through direct observation, and spark curiosity that lasts well beyond the trip itself.

At every level, SFVA’s science program emphasizes curiosity, critical thinking, and meaningful experiences—preparing students not only for college and careers, but for a lifelong appreciation of learning and discovery.
